Our School
We are always working to be the best we can be at Ed’s Tae Kwon Do! The academy is constantly growing, building students to reach their goals and reach their full potential. We do this through blending traditional martial arts training with modern teaching styles. Students walk into class every day and are met by an energetic, joyful environment while following a detailed curriculum. We have fun while teaching all the necessary stances, forms, blocks, combinations, and self-defense techniques for students to thrive in and out of the academy. It’s a perfect environment for everyone to build their best self!
Our History
Ed’s Tae Kwon Do has become a home for the martial arts community in Brownsville. Since 1996, the academy has offered kids, teens, adults, and entire families a place to train for competition, self-defense, fitness, and, most importantly, personal development. Academy owner Ed Arriaga has constantly worked to make the training the best it can be while striving to bring smiles to everyone’s faces. The 8th Dan Jidokwan and Kukkiwon-certified instructor has trained since 1982 and knows how martial arts can change lives. Everything he’s done with the academy—including adding a fitness area—has been to help students reach their full potential. Ed’s Tae Kwon Do has been, and always will be, a place anyone can come and feel safe and supported while improving each day!

Ed’s Tae Kwon Do Programs
All of our programs are tailored to the age group and skill level. We work with students who want to compete, those looking for self-defense, those training for fitness, and those working to develop as people. We combine high-level training, a blend of traditional and modern teachings, and a community that fosters great individuals. Learn more about all our programs below!
Little Dragons
(Ages 3-5)
We are proud to offer young children a great place to build their martial arts and Tae Kwon Do foundation. Students improve their physical coordination while learning important life skills. They’ll begin to develop physically, mentally, and emotionally.
Kids Karate
(Ages 6-10)
This is a great environment for your children to learn Karate. Students begin to learn more stances, forms, blocks, and combinations to build themselves into well-rounded martial artists who are great people.
Ed’s Junior Students
(Ages 11-14)
Our preteens and young teens can use Tae Kwon Do to become the best athletes and people they can be. It’s a great place for students to build their life skills and prepare for adulthood while training for competition, self-defense, and fitness.
Ed’s Adults Kickboxing and Fitness
(Ages 15+)
Are you looking for a fun activity to improve your fitness? If so, Ed’s Adults Kickboxing and Fitness can be perfect for you! Come in and learn some self-defense skills while improving your physical health!
Homeschool Classes
Our Homeschool program is built to help homeschooled children fit martial arts training into their schedules. We offer training at times that fit their schedule and help children improve their communication skills, confidence, leadership, and more!
